Janet's Tasty Cornbread

"A basic cornbread recipe with great flavor! I can get this cut into 16 sqares - so I counted each square as a serving! I serve this with "Suzy's Hoppin' John""

ingredients

• 1 cup cornmeal
• 1⁄4 cup vegetable shortening, melted
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup evaporated milk
• 1 egg, beaten

directions

1. Mix all ingredients and pour in a 8x8 pan.
2. Bake at 400 F for 30-40 minutes.
