Oatmeal is a great snack and breakfast food. Cut back on your grocery bill by making your own instant packets. For each packet you will need: A plastic sandwich bag and 1/2 cup quick oats (or more)

Use your food chopper and powder HALF of the oatmeal before putting in the baggie. Also ADD 1-2 tablespoons DRY powdered milk. These two changes will give you a much creamier oatmeal. ADD-ins we like: snipped, dried apricots or prunes/plums; dried blueberries or cherries; candied, diced pineapple. Fresh fruit (raspberries, cherries) or applesauce. Yum!

  • 1 plastic sandwich bag
  • 12 cup quick oats (or more)
  • APPLE CINNAMON OATMEAL

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or more)
  • 14-12 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dried apples
  • SWEETENED OATMEAL

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or more, or sugar substitute)
  • CINNAMON-SPICE OATMEAL

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or more)
  • 14-12 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 18 teaspoon nutmeg
  • OATMEAL with BROWN SUGAR and RAISINS

  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon raisins

Directions

  1. Put oatmeal into bag.
  2. Add a dash of salt if desired.
  3. To Use:.
  4. Empty packet into a microwave safe bowl.
  5. Stir in 1 cup water or milk.
  6. Microwave on HIGH 2 to 3 minutes; stir before serving.
