ingredients
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 garlic clove
- 1⁄4 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1⁄2 lb ground beef
- 1 cup fresh shredded coconut
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 cups oil (for frying)
directions
- Combine onion, garlic, shrimp paste, coriander, sugar, salt and black pepper in bowl, making sure shrimp paste is completely combined with remaining ingredients.
- Add beef and coconut.
- Knead well with hands.
- Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
- Shape into 1 inch balls.
- Heat oil in wok.
- Add balls to oil a few at a time and fry until medium brown and cooked throughout.
- Remove.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot or at room temperature.
