Another recipe that I tried from "The Complete Everyday Cookbook" .
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 2 teaspoons grated onions
- 1⁄8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 slices bacon
- 8 hot dog rolls
- Slice the hot dogs in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mash the cheese with a fork, then blend in mustard, onion and Worcestershire sauce. Spread generously between hot dog halves. Roll 1 strip of bacon around each of the hot dogs. Grill over hot coals, turning often until bacon is browned to taste. Serve on hot dog rolls.
Made & enjoyed for your Football Pool win, I should tell you that Sat lunch was always chili-cheese dogs as I grew up. Now as a Grandma living in Iceland, I should tell you that the most popular restaurant in Iceland is a hot dog stand! That said, I made 1 change & used crispy fried onions (a "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" kinda thing). Hot dogs are welcome comfort food for me, but I thought of chili as I inhaled these dogs. My much belated congrats on your Football Pool win & thx for posting a comfort food recipe choice. :-)
Great snack, kids loved them. And best part, inunder 30 minutes. Made for superbowl pool.
