Hot Dish

"My mom made this all the time when I was growing up. It's another comfort food dish--very tasty. You can so easily add other ingredients to taste and the dish is transformed into another lovely creation. My mom made it with the following simple few ingredients. I now make it with garlic, onion and cheese."

  1. This is one of my comfort foods as well. My mom called it goulash. She did the same with rice instead of noodles. I love this recipe and so do my kids!

  2. You just saved me big time! I'm dead broke and happened to have hamburger, a can of diced tomatoes and elbow macaroni. I also threw in a can of crushed tomatoes because I didn't have enough of the diced. It came out surprisingly delicious! Thanks for the easy recipe and saving me from starving!

  3. My mom made this when I was growing up and we always called it meal-in-one. Ours had onion and a small can of tomoto sauce in it. Mom would serve it with corn muffins. :) I like to do that also but I dish it up and put shredded sharp cheese on it. I havent thought of this in a few years. Thanx for the momory SImplemom :)

  4. I'm a MoM and guess what - I still make it!!! I do add a can of Beef Stock (low sodium) if it gets a little thick on me, but other than that - it's my recipe to a T!!!

  5. My Mom made this all the time too! Sometimes she added a little bit of chopped green pepper and onion if she had it. Thanks for sharing!

I live in Colorado. I LOVE it here! My husband and I own a motorcycle service and repair shop (primarily Harley's, but not in a snobbish way- if you love to ride- you are our kind of people- no matter what you ride.) We also have an on site machine shop and we make all kinds of custom parts and accessories. I don't have a favorite cookbook, but some of my favorite recipes come from old newspapers and family recipes. I really enjoy pottery, being outdoors, camping, growing herbs, flowers, and veggies, and spending time with my friends and family. I also love to grab a beer or glass of wine and just hang out w/friends.I also love to spend time with myself in a bath with a good book. (I don't find anything wrong with drinking alone under these circumstances.)
