This recipe originally came from "The Bread Machine Cookbook II". It is one of my family's favorite breads for sandwiches. The cook time is an approximate time for a bread machine cycle.
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1⁄4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 2 cups bread flour
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons yeast
- Add ingredients (in the exact order listed) to bread machine, and bake according to your bread maker's instructions.
This is the BEST bread the I have ever had! I used agave nectar, rather then honey, but we thought that this was great! I did use my bread machine to cook it, and it turned out perfectly!
I can't rave enough about this bread!
I made the dough in the breadmaker. I divided it in half to make two small loaves. They baked in a 375 degree oven for about 32 minutes. Very nice bread. I will make it again.
My husband says this is the best bread he's ever had, bar none. Excellent flavor & great "all-around" bread. Didn't bake it in the bread machine but used the dough cycle & finished it out of the machine. Very, very tender slices. Truly wonderful toasted!!!! PB&J is like a gourmet dish on this bread!
