  • Steak

  • 2 12 lbs flank steaks
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground
  • Sauce

  • 14 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 -2 teaspoon chili paste


  1. Steak:.
  2. Make 1/4" deep lengthwise cuts in steak, spacing them 1" apart, then crosswise, forming a crosshatch design.
  3. Place in shallow glass dish.
  4. Mix marinade. Pour over steak, rubbing ginger into cuts.
  5. Cover, chill overnight, turning a couple of times.
  6. Sauce:.
  7. Mix sauce ingredients in small bowl.
  8. Chill.
  9. Finish:.
  10. Heat barbecue to hot.
  11. Grill steak about 7 minutes per side for medium rare. Transfer to platter.
  12. Let stand 10 minutes. Thinly slice across grain.
  13. This is best served at room temperature.
  14. Serve with sauce.

Great Summer meal. I was going to post but you had done it. Thank you. I have been making this for 20+ years and it is great. Do the meat early in the morning and then a great dinner is just a short time away. We can eat the whole recipe just the two of us. It is that good. Serve with Asian Fingerling Potatoes.
