Green Chile Cheese Hash Browns Bake

"slightly spicy hash brown casserole,great onion flavor lots of cheese so easy I found this on a box of dehydrated shurfine hash browns made a few changes and its just yummy.used shredded fresh hash browns found in the cooler case less wait that way. also added fresh onion."

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • combine dip and chilies.
  • butter a 2 quart casserole.
  • place 1/3 of potatoes in the bottom of casserole.spread some of the chili and onion dip mixture on top of the potatoes.
  • sprinkle with 1/2 the cup of cheese and 1/4 cup of the onion.
  • repeat layers .
  • evenly spread the remaining 1/3 potatoes on top .
  • sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top of the potatoes.
  • bake at 350*F 40 minutes until bubbling.
  • when done, let set up about 10 min before serving.

  1. I tried this for supper tonight. I didn't exactly follow the recipe as written though. I have found out, since, that the french onion dip and chilies mixture was supposed to spread over the potatoes before the onion and cheese layers. However, since I didn't know that as I was making it, I just mixed it in with the potatoes like you would a soup and then layered half the potatoes, cheese and onions twice. Then, I baked it. It tasted very good. That french onion dip gave it a wonderful flavor. This is a very good blend of ingredients and the recipe is quite easy to make. Everyone in the family liked it and even my picky eater had a second helping. I think sauteed grated mushrooms would be good in this too. Thanks for sharing it!!
