Green Bean Casserole

"I don't remember where this recipe came from or if it was my Mom's or my Grandma's. At any rate, I make this as a side dish for every Thanksgiving meal."

  • 2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans French style green beans
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (8 ounce) can French-fried onions

directions

  • Drain the beans thoroughly.
  • Put one can of drained beans in a casserole dish.
  • Add 1/2 of the soup and 1/2 of the onions on top of the beans.
  • Repeat layers.
  • Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. My DH requests this dish every Thanksgiving. for a little more flavor, I like to add a little Worchester sauce to the soup and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top before adding the onions.
     
  5. No exact amounts are given, so I could only guess... I first tried stirring in one can mushroom soup with 1 15 oz. can of grean beans. It looked too "soupy" so I added another 15 oz. can. Recipe does not say whether to drain the beans or not.... In retrospect, I do advise draining the beans! I merely guessed at the amount of onion rings. If I had added the entire 6 ounce can of onion rings, it would have been entirely too much. In the end, this is a super recipe to dress up green beans... The directions just need a bit of "tightening-up."
