Grandma's Molasses Christmas Crinkles

"This is another one of my Grandma's cookie recipes. She'd serve these along with an assortment of other cookies at Christmas."

ingredients

• 177.44 ml shortening (she always used Crisco)
• 236.59 ml brown sugar (packed)
• 1 egg
• 59.14 ml molasses
• 473.18 ml flour (sifted)
• 9.85 ml baking soda
• 1.23 ml salt
• 2.46 ml ground cloves
• 4.92 ml ground cinnamon
• 4.92 ml ground ginger
• 236.59 ml granulated sugar (approximately)

directions

1. Thoroughly mix wet ingredients together - - shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
2. Blend all dry ingredients together and then stir into the wet ingredients.
3. Chill cookie dough for 1 hour.
4. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
5. Roll dough into balls the size of large walnuts.
6. Dip tips of balls into sugar.
7. Place, sugared side up, 3" apart on a greased baking sheet.
8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
