Grandma's Kolachy

"These are a family favorite made by our Great Grandma Irene. Since her passing, I have tried my best to carry on the tradition of making these and think it is only appropriate to share her recipe so a great piece of her will live on. Don't be intimitated by the prep time. That includes the chilling of the dough."

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 lb butter (NO margarine)
  • 1 lb cream cheese
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • fruit filling (I use Baker's prepared filling sold in the baking goods isle)

directions

  • Sift flour and sugar together.
  • Work in butter, cream cheese and egg yolks.
  • Knead well.
  • Chill for 6 hours at least.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Roll until thin in flour and sugar combination.
  • Cut dough into 2 inch squares.
  • Fill with desired filling.
  • Fold two corners together.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
