Grandma's Gooey Butter Cake

"This is the closest thing I have found to the gooey butter cake my grandmother made. It has basic ingredients and is really simple to make. If you're worried about calories or fat grams this ones probably not for you. But if you're not, this is oh-so-gooey."

  1. Everyone at work loved this and begged for another pan. I added a half cup peanut butter and a banana to the filling and it was great!

  2. I've made this cake several times (and once with chocolate cake and almond extract, which I need to make again, since that one burned....oops!). If you are making it to take somewhere, make two- one to bring, and one to eat about 5 seconds from the oven. Also, try it in muffin pans. They will look a little bit like flat corn muffins, and you might get a few funny looks, but weird lookin' food always tastes best, right? ; )

  3. My kids devoured this in about an hour! So sweet it brings tears to your eyes. I'm thinking about trying it again with a brownie mix for the crust.

  4. This cake is so rich and gooey and tasty. Quick and easy to make too. Great recipe and an old family favorite in my house too.
