No-Cilantro Guacamole

"5 minutes with 7 ingredients (ones you usually have on hand!) to make a FANTASTIC munchie!! My "picky" mother-in-law won't eat any guacamole other than this! A GREAT condiment for my Chicken Chimichangas that's posted here!! ** NOTE:For the onion...use 1-2 thin SLICES of onion...NOT THE WHOLE onion! Recipezaar won't let me post it on the ingredients that way! =) ENJOY!!"

directions

  • Slice avacodos in 1/2, remove seeds.
  • Remove flesh into a bowl.
  • Add garlic.
  • Add tomatoes.
  • Add lime juice.
  • Add onion.
  • Add salt.
  • Mash all together with a fork.
  • Open bag of Tostitos corn tortilla chips or "scoops".
  • ENJOY!
  • Adjust seasonings to taste. I don't measure when I make this I just "dump" and go.
  • You may reserve the seed(s) and place in bowl AFTER mixed. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refridgerate if not using immediately. The seeds help keep the avacodo from turning brown.

  1. This was the first recipe that came up for guacamole when I searched a few years back and I am still using it! It's basic, but tastes so much better than the stuff from the store. I usually make it the night before we are planning on eating it because it tends to get better as the flavors blend. The only tweak I make is that I add about a half teaspoon of cumin just for something extra. Great recipe as written!

  2. Very yum! Made for an excellent midnight snack. I used one avocado and kept the rest of ingredients the same, so it was nice and flavourful. Keep in mind the OP says thin slices of onion, not a whole onion!! I used two rings finely minced and it worked well (most may want to use more, I keep it minimal because I'm borderline allergic... but it's just so tasty!).

  3. This is the first (and only) guacamole I've ever made. We love it.

  4. this was delicious but I have to say that there was WAY too much onion. I even doubled the recipe but kept the onion amount the same and it was still too much. I Will make it again just not use as much onion.

  5. FABULOUS! I have never made homemade guac before because I thought it would be difficult to perfect the taste. Boy, was I wrong. I made 1/2 batch of this because it was just for myself. It calls for a lot of onion, so I just added to taste. I am glad to say that my first attempt at making guac was great. I will never make an excuse to go to the mexican restaurant for guacamole again! :D I didn't have any tortilla chips, so I cut up and baked some egg roll wrappers for dipping. YUM.

Tweaks

  1. I make it as written and then add a half teaspoon of cumin, just for some extra flavor depth.
