This is a simple version that is very good. Whenever cabbage is on sale we have a big batch.
- 2 carrots, sliced thinly
- 1⁄2 head cabbage (we often use 1 whole small head)
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 2 (3 ounce) packagesspicy beef-flavor ramen noodles
- 1⁄2 lb hamburger (we often use a whole pound of ground turkey)
- salt and pepper
- soy sauce
- Stir fry carrots in a little oil to crisp tender. Remove from pan, cook hamburger, salt and pepper. Add carrots and one-half head cabbage. Slice on top of hamburger. Cook the packages of ramen noodles while hamburger is cooking. Pour undrained noodles on cabbage. Sprinkle noodle seasoning package on top. Stir. Cover and cook till cabbage is tender crisp. Season with soy sauce and enjoy.
I love this recipe-so easy and done right will rival any take out in those white cartons-i just throw a pan on and use olive oil -put in carrots (i did add onion and jalapeno) with cabbage -covered let simmer and added noodles and spice package-never even used hamburger-what a great recipe !!!!Thank you for revvin up my brain to do this.
I totally reversed the order of cooking this recipe.Because my huband cannot have hamburger and the rest of can. I sliced the carrots, cabbage and some onion in a stock pot along with 2 tblsps of oil. Tossed it around and added 1/2 cup water. Added the packet of flavoring from the ramen.Stir fried on medium to high heat, then add broken uncooked noodles with a cup and one half water and soy sauce. I cook the hamburger separately and add to each bowl served.
ramen is not soba. eww.
