Doubly Chocolate Cookies

ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2⁄3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
directions
- heat oven 350.
- in large mixing bowl beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- stir together flour, cocoa, bakiung soda, and salt; add to butter mixture.
- stir in chocolate chips, and if desired, nuts.
- drop bu rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- bake 8 to 10 minutes or jsut until set.
- cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
- cool completely.
- makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.

Made these pretty much as given, including the chopped pecans, which I toasted beforehand! Also frosted some of them with a not-terribly-sweet cream cheese frosting that I whipped up! Delicious both ways, no way around it, & I think I'll keep hold of the recipe for a while! Many thanks for sharing it! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's round of Pick A Chef],
