    Ingredients:

    Yield:

    dozen

    Units: US | Metric

    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 cup dates, pitted & cut up
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 2 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
    • 1/2 cup nuts, finely chopped
    • powdered sugar or shredded coconut or finely chopped nuts or cocoa, to roll the balls in

    Directions:

      In a large sauce pan, mix sugar, eggs, dates, salt, & butter.
    2. 2
      Cook over medium heat untill thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla, cereal and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Mix well, and allow to cool slightly. Form into one inche balls and roll in you choice of powdered sugar, coconut, cocoa or nuts.

      Makes about 2 dozen.
