- 3 cups flour
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 5 -6 tablespoons cold water
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 lb beef sirloin
- 3 -4 russet potatoes
- 1 large onion
- 2 tablespoons butter
directions
- Cut together flour, shortening and salt until it resembles small peas in a food processor.
- Combine the egg, water and vinegar and gradually add to flour mixture.
- Pulse just until moistened and a soft dough forms.
- Divide into 2 disks.
- Wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Cut beef sirloin in small cubes.
- Peel and cut potatoes into small cubes like the meat.
- Chop 1 onion, again similar size.
- Roll out one disk of dough and place into pie plate.
- Mix beef and veggies in a bowl and place into the pie plate.
- Top with 2 T. butter.
- Roll second disk of dough and place on top of filling.
- Crimp the edges together with fingers or fork.
- Cut slits into the top of the dough.
- Bake 425 deg. until the edges start to brown. About 15 minutes.
- Turn down the temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for another 45 minute.
- Let rest for 10 minutes, cut into serving pieces.
- Serve plain or with ketchup.
