This recipe goes back to my grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and had to make do with what she had. I guess they all had leftover homemade bread. This sounds like it is toooo simple to be good, but we love it. It has a wonderful flavor.

Too soggy and not enough chocolate. Next time I'll use less milk, more cocoa and maybe add some berries or chocolate chips.

*The sogginess could have been because I had to use skim milk so I'm not taking any stars off for that. But this still didn't satisfy my lust for chocolate so it only gets 4 out of 5. Overall it was good but not what I was hoping for.

This was divine! I halved the recipe with no problem, and added orange essence instead of vanilla since orange + chocolate = heaven. Delicious! Thanks for sharing!

This is a really yummy pudding perfect to satisfy that chocolate craving. I was longing for anything chocolate-ey for the last 1 week and my eyes were watching this recipe. When I read that this is your grandma's recipe, it reminded me of my late grandmothers', both of whom were very good cooks. I finally decided I had to make it today since we had 5 slices of white bread and just enough milk on hand to try this. I did not preheat my oven to bake this. I baked this pudding at 200C for 60 minutes. I did not have vanilla essence on hand, so I substituted it with orange essence. I used Hershey's cocoa powder to make this. I love this pudding served warm. The smell of the baked pudding is wafting all over my apartment as I type this review:) I cant wait for the rest of my family to dig into this!! Thank you for making my day so happy!
