This fabulous recipe is thanks to Paula Deen. I tried it last night for the first time, and I just couldn't wait to share it with others. A wonderful comfort meal for a chilly winter evening. Enjoy!

Heaven! I didn't use all that butter to sautee the garlic and shallots. Just a drizzle of EVOO works great. The first time I made it I put the bread crumbs on top and thought they interferred with the perfection underneath so I left them off the second time. I cook a whole chicken in the crockpot and pull the meat off the bone. I just eyeball how much of the chicken I want to add into the mixture and save the rest for something else.

I really enjoyed this. It was also easy to put together. I used a bit more cream cheese and a bit less cream (with some half & half) because I was using up stuff in the house. I guess I'm a redneck because I used leftover hotdog buns instead of French bread. lol The portions seemed a little small. Unfortunately, some family members did not like this so I probably won't be making it again.
