ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1⁄2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1⁄2 cup quick oats
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon catnip, minced (optional)
- 4 -6 baby carrots
directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease or spray with a nonstick cooking spray or use parchment paper on a baking sheet. Set aside.
- In a medium size mixing bowl, combine chicken, flour, oats, egg and catnip (if using).
- Using your hands, mix the ingredients together, until fully incorporated and smooth. (Add more flour if needed).
- Make 1 to 2 inche round balls, then, shape them into ovals. Pinch the end to create a pointed nose. Place in rows, on prepared baking sheet.
- Cut thin disks out of 2 to 3 baby carrots, then cut each one in half, and then cut them in half again, to give you 4 small wedges from each baby carrot disk (for the mouse ears).
- Use 2 small wedges on each mouse, to create 2 ears for the mouse, repeat until they all have 2 ears, (pictured).
- Using the remaining baby carrots, slice 36 thin (lengthwise) strips, to use for the mice tails. Insert the tails firmly into the back of each mouse treat. Using a toothpick, insert two holes for the mouse eyes.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in a preheated oven.
- Let cool completely. Store in the refrigerator covered, for up to 2 weeks, or can be frozen in an air tight container for several months.
- Makes: 36 mice treats.
