Carol Allen's Meat

"I had this when I was growing up. Now, when I need a quick meal idea and have ground meat in the freezer and cream cheese in the 'frig., I often make this family-pleaser. It may not be the most attractive dish, but it is tasty! I usually serve it over rice..."

  1. This is similar to a recipe I have made in the past. It is very good, but mine calls for the macaroni noodles to be cooked and added into the casserole. Then cover with cheese at the end and bake for a little longer.

  2. We really enjoyed this, and it was a great recipe for one of those "mommy was playing with the kids and forgot to make dinner" afternoons. I followed the ingredients except had to use dried minced onion while browning the meat. Following the comments of shevonn, I added cooked macaroni to this and baked in the oven topped with parm and dots of butter. Quite tasty and I'll make again. Thanks for sharing a recipe for a quick, easy, tasty dinner! I didn't add olives because I didn't have any in the house.

  3. Enjoyed this recipes, it was thick and creamy. I served it over noodles. I did add the olives and it added a zing to the recipe. I would make this recipe again.

  4. Very tasty and easy to throw together. I did it a little different than the directions called for. I only used 1 lb of meat and used a little less milk and ketchup than called for. Then, I put it in a casserole dish and laid biscuits over the top and had to bake for a little longer (about 15 minutes) until the biscuits were done. I will be making this one again!

(As many of you know Silent Cricket passed away on Feb. 29. Since she loved Recipezaar so much and so many on Recipezaar have shown their love for her, and have enjoyed her recipes, her personal information will remain here indefinitely just as she wrote it. Her lines at the end of this section sound somewhat prophetic as the last chapter of her earthly existence has been written.) Well, the time has come for me to change my users' name. After being, "OzCoMartha" because of having lived for three years in Australia and then moving to Colorado, I have decided to "turn over a new leaf." I chose this name because many moons ago I used to be able to "chirp" like a cricket and the "silent" refers to the present time when I'm taking a break...But, perhaps after a season, however long I decide that needs to be, I may be back and then I will fill in more details about myself...
