This is a recipe from my Aunt Evelyn. It is a delight to have on sticky puddings and over ice cream.
- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1⁄2 cups water
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 cup butter
- 1⁄4 cup lemon juice
- Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt together.
- Add water and stir over medium heat until it boils and thickens.
- Add spices and remove from heat.
- Add butter and stir until melted.
- Add lemon and stir.
I like this however I did't use as much lemon as it called for. It was a little tart so I was glad that I I only used one lemon. It was good on bread pudding. Thank you for posting.
