  1. Blend 1 1/2 cups sugar and melted butter.
  2. Beat in eggs.
  3. Stir in almond and vanilla extracts.
  4. Add salt and flour and mix well.
  5. Spread batter evenly in a greased-and-floured, 9-inch round pan.
  6. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and sugar for garnish.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. (Toast almonds ahead or in oven while it is preheating.).

This cake is SO good....tasted like something from a bakery. Very quick and easy and I agree with the other reviewer that berries on the side would be nice...maybe also some icing drizzled on top. But, it's fantastic just the way it is. I took this to work and it disappeared in minutes. Thanks Charlotte, this is a real keeper!

This is one of our favorite recipes! So easy, so rich, so delicious! Great with a few berries on the side too! This is so rich, a small slice is plenty! We usually have one in our freezer, and frequntly take this cake to friends. Thank you for posting Charlotte!
