  1. In skillet, fry chopped onions until tender.
  2. Add sausage and crumble while cooking.
  3. Drain meat.
  4. Add rest of ingredients.
  5. Cover and bake at 400 for 30-35 minutes.
  6. ENJOY!

I like to try original recipes before making changes, but this time I should have heeded Paula G's advice about cutting down on the brown sugar or molasses. It was too sweet for our household.

The addition of the sausage makes these beans extra special. This is a recipe that is very similar to the one I have used for many years. I did use turkey sausage instead of pork and canned vegetarian baked beans. Also, I cut the brown sugar in half and with the addition of the molasses the beans were sweet enough for my taste. I will make this recipe again. It will be great for summer cookouts.
