Basil-Lemon Bow Ties

- 14.79 ml olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 226.79 g package medium bow tie pasta
- 14.79 ml fresh lemon juice
- 4.92 ml lemon zest, finely grated
- 1 bunch basil, chopped (about 12 large leaves)
- 2.46 ml salt
- 1.23 ml black pepper, freshly grated
- 118.29 ml parmesan cheese, grated
directions
- Cook bowties according to package directions.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over low heat for 1 minute.
- Add garlic and saute, stirring often, for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat.
- Add well drained bowties and toss well until coated with garlic/oil mixture.
- Add lemon juice and zest, basil salt and pepper.
- Toss untl basil wilts.
- Top with parmesan cheese.
- Serve.

While this was simple and certainly nice tasting, I felt the parmesan cheese overpowered the flavours instead of complimenting them. Also the dish seemed a lot drier because it was coated with the cheese and that made it a tad unappetising. I DO like the simplicity of this recipe, and will definitely try this again, but I'll use parmesan cheese with more care.

This recipe has a great base. However, I think in the end it was too plain. I loved the overall taste, but it was missing some sort of "bang" to it. It could be that I used a large style of pasta shape, and maybe if I used a smaller shape or less quantity it would get a higher rank. I still like the overall idea of the recipe and I have room to play with it!
