Garlic Potato Tapas

"This is a very different Tapa - it is almost like a potato salad - You'll like the flavor and it is great to serve along with other tapas. Serve 1/2 cup in small individual bowls . It is fun to have a tapa night when you are entertaining. There are lots of Tapas recipes here on Recipezaar. This recipe originated in Kraft's What's Cooking magazine"

  2. I pulled out my kitchen scale and measured out 3 lbs of potatoes and chopped and boiled them. When they were cool I added the dressing (which was lovely on its own) but felt that it was way too dry for us so I made another 1/2 of the dressing and added it and let it sit in the fridge to meld. Unfortunately we found that it still had way too little dressing for our taste. It was a little dry, but mostly it had almost no taste. I am going to make another full amount of dressing and add it to allow the level of dressing we like. This was a great one to try. I love the idea of the garlic and the dressing itself was lovely. We just need more sauce. I also think that I would halve it next time if I was simply making it for my family. 3 lbs of potatoes made enough for 12-14 servings for us. Thanks for a great one to try, Bergy.

  3. I made this to go with our Memorial Day barbecue rib dinner. I added salt, and took Carla's suggestion and added some fresh dill. It was very good - everyone liked it. The dijon added a nice "bite" to the flavor. The only change I'll make in the future is to cut the potato pieces a little smaller than 1 inch in order to coat more potato surface with the dressing, and get more flavor with each potato bite.

  4. Delicious recipe! I made this for my birthday party this past weekend and it was a hit! This recipe was so easy for me, as our supermarkets package precooked potato rounds - I just needed to finish them off a few minutes. I made the recipe as directed and added a bit of fresh dill to the mix. Delicious recipe - so much easier to make for a party instead of the typical potato salad. Nice recipe, great photo!

  5. Oooooooh Beeeeeergy, this is gooooood! I made this for Photo Swap #2. As I was only making enough for two people I used fresh Baby New Potatoes, boiled them in their skinns and then peeled them carefully, which would have taken me ages had I made 3lbs, but I'm sure it'll be fantastic with normal cubed potatoes, too. The flavours blend so well and the 'dressing' isn't heavy and overpowering as with some mayonnaise/miracle whip potato dishes. This will become a regular at my house! Thanks for sharing and I hope you like the pics! :D

On January 10 2010 I will celebrate 9 years of Life with Zaar. I can't imagine being without it! It has become part of my daily routine. I feel very privileged to be one of the hosts on the Photo Forum. Taking photos of my culinary efforts is a full time hobby and I love it. My friends all know what to expect when they come to dinner "Are you finished taking pictures?" or "Did you get a photo of so & so?" I never let them wait too long and the food is NEVER cold! I now have over 6000 photos on Zaar - some fairly good and some definitely not so good. I am happy to say that practice does help. My roots are in Vancouver BC Canada - a very beautiful city that holds many wonderful memories for me. In 1990, I decided that for my retirement years I may want to settle in a smaller community and found a slice of heaven in the North Okanagan B.C. I love living here but every once in a while I miss the bright city lights, the Broadway shows and some of the small wonderful ethnic restaurants that Vancouver abounds in. That is easily resolved. I just take a trip to the coast, visit with friends for a weekend see a show and feast on Dim Sum or other specialty foods. I am getting a bit long in the tooth but was a very adventurous person. I have river rafted Hell's Gate on the Fraser river, been up in a glider over Hawaii (no not a Hang Glider!), gone hot air ballooning in the Napa Valley & the Fraser Valley, driven dune buggies on the dunes in Oregon, Para sailing in Mexico and tried many other adventurous, challenging, fun things. I have yet to try bungee jumping or sky diving. I may do them yet. I love to travel and experience other cultures. Mexco has been a favorite haunt. I have visited that lovely country many many times. Australia is another favorite as is England! In the past 16 months I have taken off 61 pounds and feel wonderful. I am off all medications and all systems are GO! In years I may be 79 but in spirit I am still in my forties. We are only as old as we allow ourselves to feel. Always think positive. Do something a bit challenging every day & always do something silly every day. Be a kid again! Laugh every day - it is internal jogging.
