Vanilla Ice Cream

"I wanted a vanilla ice cream that tasted like the homemade ice cream Dad used to make. It is easy and tasted, there is hardly ever any left over for the next night."

• Yields: 1 1/2 quarts
• Serves: 4-6

ingredients

• 2 eggs
• 3⁄4 cup sugar
• 2 1⁄2 cups half-and-half
• 1⁄2 cup heavy whipping cream
• 1 teaspoon vanilla (I use Mexican Vanilla for extra flavor)

directions

1. Beat eggs and sugar, add milk slowly mixing it in well.
2. Add vanilla, stir well.
3. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker. It makes about 1 1/2 quarts. This is a great recipe to add your favorite flavors to.

Needed an easy great ice cream to make on the fly to serve with an apple pie. This fit the bill. Used Mexican vanilla and it was so good. Using raw eggs, I wouldn't store it, but it sure was wonderful served on my pie.
