  1. When we were young my mom would add a can of beans to the left over sloppy joes and it was very good. When this recipe came up in random draw I had to tag it! Wonderful and wish I could give this more than 5 stars! I used 1 pound of ground round and added a clove of garlic. Cooked this in my electric skillet and than let simmer for about 45 minutes. The sweet flavor from the brown sugar was perfect and worked well with the bit of zip from the salsa. I served this over bread and added a layer of salsa with a dollop of sour cream. Thank you Tracy for posting this recipe!

  2. We had these for a meal, and they were enjoyable. (My picky eaters were wary at first, but they also enjoyed the flavor.) I used 16 "scoops" of Sweet & Low Brown instead of the brown sugar.

  3. Very good! These are almost like a meal in themselves. My wife, who will rarely eat any type of beans, went back for a second helping! I added a couple of minced cloves of garlic and cooked them for about 1 1/2 hrs. to thicken them more. I wonder what they would taste like if ground pork was used instead of beef??? THANKS!

Hi, I'm Tracy. I'm thirtysomething and the oldest of four. I've been frequenting Recipezaar for about a year. Every since my baby sister(recipezaar chef Brandi Ranta) turned me onto it. Of the four of us we are the only two that enjoy cooking and baking. I live in southern California with my wonderful husband and our two boys, Bryce(my picky eater) and Trent(my "I'll try just about anything" eater). It seams like we are always trying to eat right so I'm always looking for a new way to prepare chicken or fish, however, on those days when I'm slippin I just love breads and cakes.
