The Best (Vegetarian) Chili

  • Heat oil in large pot.
  • Cook onions, garlic, and Recipe Crumbles until brown.
  • Add tomatoes, beer, coffee, tomato paste, and vegetable broth.
  • Add spices.
  • Stir in kidney beans.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Add pinto and black beans and simmer for another 30 minutes.

  1. I made this about a month or so ago and I used crumbled tempeh instead of the grillers. This recipe was delicious! The depth of flavor cannot be duplicated by other chili recipes that I've tried. Making another pot of this today! Thanks for the recipe!

I am in the process of learning how to cook. For the past several years, I haven't really had a need or interest in cooking... it seems like every time I had tried to cook in the past, it was a disaster. I was also a vegetarian for over 10 years, so I have a lingering phobia of cooking poultry and fish (I still don't eat read meat.) Practice makes perfect, so that's why I am here... getting inspiration and sharing recipes.
