Swedish Meatballs

"A childhood favorite, my mom would make this often. She received this recipe from a family friend. The meatballs taste good even without the sauce! I serve over mashed potatoes."

directions

  • Using hands, combine ground beef, pork sausage, bread crumbs or oatmeal, sour cream, beaten egg, allspice, salt & grated onion in large mixing bowl and then form into balls.
  • Melt butter over medium heat. Brown meatballs in butter.
  • Meanwhile, dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water.
  • When meatballs are nice and brown and cooked through, pour the bouillon mixture over top. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until right before serving.
  • Before serving, thicken sauce. To thicken, mix flour with water to form a paste (like the texture of glue). Stir into sauce a little at a time. Let simmer. Repeat by adding more of a flour/water mixture until the gravy reaches desired consistency.
