ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1⁄2 lb pork sausage
- 1⁄2 cup oatmeal or 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1⁄2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1⁄8 teaspoon allspice
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon onion, grated
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 tablespoons flour
directions
- Using hands, combine ground beef, pork sausage, bread crumbs or oatmeal, sour cream, beaten egg, allspice, salt & grated onion in large mixing bowl and then form into balls.
- Melt butter over medium heat. Brown meatballs in butter.
- Meanwhile, dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water.
- When meatballs are nice and brown and cooked through, pour the bouillon mixture over top. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until right before serving.
- Before serving, thicken sauce. To thicken, mix flour with water to form a paste (like the texture of glue). Stir into sauce a little at a time. Let simmer. Repeat by adding more of a flour/water mixture until the gravy reaches desired consistency.
