The stovetop method is actually an easy & quick way to cook candied sweet potatoes/yams for any day of the week. I made them last year at Christmas with the recipe from Bruce's website not the can label as there is no recipe on the label; also cooking a batch as I type this review to serve with leftover ham from Easter. Bruce's also only puts whole sweet potatoes(30-40 count) in a 7 pound can, not a 16 ounce can so don't look for them as described in the description of the recipe. I have added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and it tastes great. Cardamom is also great as is apple pie spice. Pretty much any spice you would sub out for cinnamon is good in these. This recipe couldn't be any easier & it's absolutely awesome that an oven is not necessary. You can reduce the syrup to your desired consistency; allow a few minutes to cool before serving because that syrup is extremely hot. Try them.
