Oil Pastry

"I got this one from my Mother-in-law a few years back, she swears by this crust! I tried it and was totally sold on it. It's the flakiest pie crust I've ever tried."

  1. This is an extraordinarily simple recipe that comes together in a snap! I usually increase the recipe as follows to make enough for a double crust pie shell or two pies: increase flour to a total of 2 cups, salt to a total of 1.5 teaspoons, and cold water to a total of 5 tablespoons. Makes a great savory crust (think chicken pot pie) as well as a traditional pie crust.

  2. This worked really well. Make sure you pierce the bottom with a fork a few times before baking it or the crust will float up. I used fresh fruit for a filling along with a vanilla bean and some mint. Very tasty.
