- 2 cups self-rising cornmeal
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1⁄4 cup oil
- 1 3⁄4 cups milk (any kind of milk will do...sweet, non fat, buttermilk.....)
- 1 teaspoon salt
directions
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Preheat large well oiled cast iron skillet.
- In large mixing bowl mix cornmeal, flour and salt.
- Stir in water and oil (if batter seems TOO think add a little more water or milk until batter will pour easily).
- Pour batter into pre-heated skillet.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cut and serve with butter.
