  • 2 cups self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 14 cup oil
  • 1 34 cups milk (any kind of milk will do...sweet, non fat, buttermilk.....)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Preheat large well oiled cast iron skillet.
  • In large mixing bowl mix cornmeal, flour and salt.
  • Stir in water and oil (if batter seems TOO think add a little more water or milk until batter will pour easily).
  • Pour batter into pre-heated skillet.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cut and serve with butter.
