- 1 1⁄2 lbs ground beef or 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 8 ounces cooked drained spaghetti
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1⁄2 cup grated parmesan cheese
directions
- Preheat oven 375°F.
- In large pot, cook ground beef, chopped onion and garlic. Drain off fat.
- Stir in undrained tomatoes, sauce, mushrooms, sugar, oregano, salt and basil.
- Bring to a gentle boil uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat; stir in spaghetti.
- Place 1/2 of mixture in 13x9 baking dish; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Top with remaining mixture and sprinkle with parmesan cheese -- and use any extra mozzarella cheese if desire.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
