This was good. But as I was making it, DD came in with 2 friends....and they were all hungry, so I had to figure a way to make it stretch. I mixed ricotta cheese with an egg, and added 1/2 cup of prepackaged pesto. I Put the parm cheese down for the first layer, then the ricotta mixture, then followed the rest of your instructions. It was a hit!

I didn`t know what package spaghetti sauce mix so I just used Italian spices in place of it.I did use more cheese I would suggest adding onions, garlic, mushrooms. I felt this needed more of a kick.Don`t get me wrong this was good just missing something.Come to think of it the children would like something like this. Simple!

Thanks Rita for trying Italian Meat Pie and you are right this is great for kids. Spaghetti Sauce Mix is made by Lawry's and McCormick--it comes in a little package and contains spices and seasonings and deheydrated onions/garlic/tomatoes to start spaghetti sauce. It helps give this recipe a bit of a kick and more of a spaghetti type of taste that kids like.

I love cooking and trying different foods, but my favorite cookbooks are now Weight Watchers or low fat/low cal cookbooks as I tend to try and make low fat/low cal recipes. I lost over 90 pounds on Weight Watchers and have maintained for over a year now -- so my cooking/eating habits have changed drastically following my weight loss and to keep it off!
