Golden Apple Bars-an easy, delicious apple dessert with a brown sugar cookie crust! Perfect for Sunday dinner or a family meal! Great with coffee or tea for breakfast the next day!
In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar.
Beat in flour.
Grease a 9″ x 13″ baking pan. Press dough evenly over bottom and 1″ up the sides of the pan.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven.
Meanwhile, make the apple layer:
Core, peel and dice apples; toss with lemon juice in a large bowl.
Melt butter and remove from heat. Blend with brown sugar in a medium sized bowl. Add egg, vanilla, baking powder and flour. Mix well. Combine in large bowl with diced apples. Mix well.
Spread evenly over the cookie layer and bake in 350 degree oven for an additional 25 minutes or until apples are fork tender.
