Gingerbread Syrup

"This is very very tasty if you like the taste of gingerbread. It's excelent in coffee and I use it in Recipe #245330 and Recipe #245325"

  • Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat over medium heat.
  • Stir till sugar is dissolved.
  • You can strain this through cheesecloth for a clearer syrup, or leave the spices in it.

  1. A nice start, but if you like your gingerbread flavor to have a bite, needs more ginger. I added about an inch of fresh ginger, sliced, and more ground ginger to taste, maybe an extra teaspoon. Simmer until fresh ginger is infused. Lemon zest is a nice touch. Quarter teaspoon ground allspice rounds it out.
     
  2. Didn't add the lemon zest and used in coffee with cream. A great homemade substitute for those expensive flavored coffee creamers and was absolutely delish!!!!!!!! Uhh ohhh I think I abused some explanation points right there. It's the holidays so were good, right? Happy Holidays everybody!
