Fried Cabbage (Done My Way...)

"My wife is half German, but usually will not eat cooked cabbage unless I make it...what a sweetheart!!! Try this as a side dish for pork roast or chops....."

  • Remove outer leaves of cabbage & cut off the end of core.
  • Coarsely shred the cabbage, including the core (the core's the best part) & set aside.
  • Melt half the butter in a large skillet (cast iron works best).
  • Add the onion & bacon -- cook, stirring occasionaly. until onion is soft & bacon is lighly browned.
  • Remove from skillet & set aside.
  • Melt the rest of the butter & add the shredded cabbage.
  • Cover & cook until cabbage is somewhat limp & lightly browned, stirring occasionaly -- about 15-20 minutes.
  • When cabbage is done, add the salt & any or all of the other listed seasonings -- cover & cook another 10 minutes.
  • ENJOY!

We also enjoy Panera Bread, Dickey's BBQ &amp; Picanha Brazillian Steak House!!!<br />I've been married since 1977 to the most wonderful lady a man could ever ask for. We have 9 beautiful Grandkids...5 girls 4 boys, a VERY SPOILED white German Shephard (Tori) &amp; a VERY goofy cat (Angel)!
