  • put fish and potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with water.
  • boil until potatoes are almost soft.
  • drain until nearly dry.
  • mash mixture together.
  • stir in butter, egg, pepper and salt.
  • beat until mixture is smooth.
  • heat butter in large frying pan.
  • form fish mixture into balls and fry in butter until well browned on all sides.
