Famous Smartie Cookies

"This recipe was handed down in my family. These are the best classic chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. The best chocolate chips for this recipe are High quality milk chocolate. Or you can stay true to the recipe and use Smarties or M&Ms as well. These cookies can stay good for up to a week in an airtight container if they last that long!!!"

Questions & Replies

 1. Am I missing something? People are talking about the chocolate chips, the way I read the recipe it is calling for smarties OR chips OR M&;Ms. Also for those complaining about the time to bake. The given temp & time is a RECOMMENDATION when cooking or baking anything you NEVER depend entirely on someone else's temp or time. Ovens, ranges and microwaves are all different. As a matter of fact if you keep your stove long enough (mine is a 1947 Hoptpoint) you may notice subtle changes in your own oven.I have adjusted my temps and times over the years due to my oven fluctuating. I always set my a little lower (I have learned this from baking in my own oven) and I start checking earlier than the recipe says.

 2. Do use plain flour for cookies

Reviews

 1. Flat and shapeless. Ratio of wet to dry ingredients needs adjusted!

 2. I followed all of the directions completely and they turned out terrible. Litterally a pile of smarties

 3. Whoever posted this recipe probably needs a new oven. I set my oven to 325 and set the time for the minimum posted in the recipe, 18 minutes (which I thought was long to begin with). They were done after 12 and had I not bothered to check them, they would have been garbage as they were on the cusp of beginning to burn slightly. I'd say 10-12 minutes tops at 325.

That said, these cookies were pretty tasty. In fact, my little guy wants to make them again so Santa Clause can try them tonight.

 4. Not exactly sure what when wrong. I followed the recipe to the letter and ended up with dry, brittle cookies that stuck to the pan. The stars I have awarded are for the flavour only. You may consider using non-stick spray on your cookie sheet.

 5. Seriously find another recipe. They spread out like butter melting around first. I bake often this recipe is not good or something is off. It has a lot of butter vs flour. I only used smarties and that part was fine. But I put them in for 18 mins at 325 and they turned brown like over done and really spread out so I cookie cutter them to keep the not fried edges. It is like they fried the sugar with the butter idk how on earth this recipe give cookies like the photo.
