  • Brown beef and onion over medium heat. Drain.
  • Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, vinegar, salt mustard, chili powder and allspice.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered for 30 minutes until heated through.
  • Spoon onto buns. Enjoy!

  1. These were tasty. I didn't think that they were too sweet. There was just the right amount of sauce. Most sloppy joe recipes have too much sauce to suit my taste. I didn't have any white vinegar so I used red wine vinegar. I also substituted 1 T onion powder for the fresh onion because I didn't have any fresh onions and it worked out fine.

  3. The title is correct...my son [15yo] made these last night, and the family was pleased. The flavor was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but everyone else approved, so it's a keeper.
