Dolly Parton's Dump Cake

"Found this in a magazine. Easy, delicious, kind of a cross between a cobbler and cake, and only 5 ingredients. Original directions dId not specify size cans and boxes, and use butter, but Recipezaar requires you add sizes of each boxes and cans, which I did, but we use margarine, up to you if you prefer butter or margarine."

directions

  • Grease and flour a 9 by 13" cake pan.
  • Put the dry yellow cake mix at the bottom.
  • Pour the can of crushed pineapple with juice over the cake mix.
  • Next, spoon the can of cherry pie filling over that, followed by the can of blueberry pie filling.
  • Thinly slice 1 stick of butter and put the slices over the top of the other ingredients (I melted mine and poured it over the top).
  • Bake the cake at 325 for 45 minutes, or until done.
  • Let rest for 20 minutes before serving.
  • This is best served warm.

  1. Something is terribly wrong with this recipe! I tried it exactly as written and it was a disaster. After resting for 20 minutes I cut into it and cake on bottom was still dry , as if still right out of the box........was able to salvage top part served with ice cream, but I'm thinking (as in other dump cakes) mix should go on top with butter on top of that. I don't think Dolly Parton would want her name associated with this recipe.

Thanks for checking out my about me page. Jeff is my husband of 8 years. We have 1 dog that someone dropped off at the side of the road and I brought home, and she rules the house. I love dogs, and hate to see a dog tied up and forgotten. I love to grow different kinds of tomatoes from seed to can, and give the "extras" away (when I'm working and don't have time to can).
