ingredients
- 2 cups powdered milk
- 3⁄4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons dried onion, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
directions
- Mix all ingredients in a jar with tight fitting lid.
- Shake well.
- Store on shelf until ready to use.

To make cream of beef:
- Add 2/3 cup mix to 1 cup beef broth.

To make cream of chicken:
- Add 2/3 cup mix to 1 cup chicken broth.

To make cream of vegetable:
- Add 2/3 cup mix to 1 cup vegetable broth.

I made this over a year ago and I'm really sorry I forgot to post a review until now. This is great to have on hand ready for when it is needed in a recipe. I keep it in ziploc bags in the freezer so they are handy when I need them for a recipe. I really prefer to use this recipe than opening a can of cream of chicken soup so thank you for a great recipe Terry..

This recipe is a lifesaver! I was making dinner when I realized I had no cream of chicken soup. But I did have everything needed for this substitute! So I used homemade broth and this recipe and it was so much better than the canned stuff! I now have several 4 ounce Mason jelly jars made up and ready to use. Thank you so much for posting-it will be a regular part of my cooking from now on.
