ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup warm water
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons yeast
- 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 -6 tablespoons milk
directions
- Layer the first 8 ingredients in bread machine per manufacturer recommendations and set to the "dough" cycle.
- Meanwhile, combine the 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tbsp cinnamon, and 1 cup butter and set aside.
- Whisk together remaining ingredients until smooth. Add more milk if needed so frosting is just thin enough to pour.
- When dough has mixed and risen once, take out of machine and roll out on a floured surface until just under 1/2 inch thick and roughly rectangular in shape. Spread cinnamon/sugar/butter mixture over dough evenly, be sure to go all the way to the edges.
- Roll up dough starting from a long side and gently cut into 1 inch thick slices with a serrated knife. Place cut sides down in a greased baking dish.
- Place baking dish on top rack of a cold oven and set a pan of boiling water on bottom rack. Don't turn the oven on and don't open the oven for about 45 minutes. After 45 minutes to an hour the rolls should be double in size. Remove the rolls and the pan of water from the oven. Heat oven to 350.
- Bake rolls for about 35 minutes or until golden brown on top. Pour frosting over rolls as soon as they come out of the oven and serve warm.

A neighbor of mine provided the bread machine for making these rolls, but I provided the ingredients & the recipe & was right there with her helping out! This was one of a handful of sweets (breads & muffins) that I provided for one of our park's weekly coffee (& sweets!) gatherings! I even provided doggie bags for those who wanted to take some home! Great way to break the ice with neighbors! Loved your cinnamon rolls, by the way! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this fall's round of Pick A Chef]
