1 1/2 cup
- Serves:
- 18
ingredients
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (Bakers' chocolate)
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons water (For a grownup frosting, I recommend adding alcohol instead of water -- Grand Marnier, Irish Cream, K)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- In a small, heavy saucepan over low heat, heat chocolate squares and sweetened condensed milk, stirring frequently, until thickened (about 10 minutes).
- Once thickened, remove from heat and add water or alcohol. Stir well and allow to cool if you're using as a frosting. If using as a glaze, pour over cake or dip cupcakes into it while still warm so they can set.

I liked this recipe just for the sheer speed with which one managed to prepare the frosting! It is the fastest frosting I have ever made. I substituted pieces from a 99% cocoa bar of chocolate for baking chocolate. It turned out quite well.I spread some to sandwich my chocolate gateau and I poured the rest on top as an icing. As the saying goes, this was truly the icing on the cake! I wanted to add a picture but it directs me to Facebook and I am not on Facebook.

Favorite cookbook is the good ol' Joy of Cooking. Otherwise, I find all my recipes online anymore!
I love to eat, so to keep myself from being 400 pounds, I try to keep my foods balanced. I avoid "crap" like Crisco or margarine. I use real sugar, whole wheat flour, and real butter. I use organic ingredients whenever possible. I want to feel good about the foods that I eat!
Similarly, I always find a way to sneak in a lower-fat ingredient without sacrificing flavor. Stay tuned for more.
