Thank you for a wonderful trip down childhood memory lane as ate my vegemite and cheese on toast for breakfast - round here vegemite can be for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. I used wholemeal/wholegrain toasted bread and a vintage cheddar and put it under the grill/broiler till melted and bubbly. Thank you, Tisme made for Edition 9 - Make My Recipe.

Veg out on Vegemite! The new Sheila on the block LOVED this simple recipe, and also loved the famous Aussie yeast spread.........made these with little baguette bread rolls and took them out to eat in the garden, all nestled in my Akubra handbag - for a little bit of Aussie style. I used Emmental cheese and SLATHERED the vegemite on the buttered bread, a GREAT snack for midday, thanks Tis! Made for: Make My Recipe #8 in the Oz/NZ forum, I loved the cheese and Vegemite combo! FS aka FT! :-)

Classic, there's no argument. I love my Vegemite! I made this twice; once as written, then once as an interpretation- I split the breadstick down the middle, spread with Vegemite, sprinkled with grated parmesan and then grilled. I loved it as written as far as taste goes, but the cheese made it hard to serve due to the pieces sticking together. You could slice the baguette up and do it my way for an Australia Day nibble! Yum yum.
