Applesauce Cake

"Another recipe from high school home ec. class that greatly exceeded my expectations. Use my recipe for Butter creme frosting to frost the cake. *thank you to the ones who commented, there should be 2 eggs in this. don't know how I missed it, LOL!*"

  1. Recipe was a little bland and dry. Not a favorite.

  2. I've been making this cake for 30+ years, always adding two eggs. It's a good recipe, doesn't need much more than a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

  3. This was okay, the flavor was a little different, maybe because of the nutmeg, not sure. But I was skeptical about it in the beginning because it had no egg, but made it anyway thinking it would be okay. While it baked up in about 40 minutes, when it was time to cut it it crumbled a lot and chunks fell off. Maybe needs an egg? We prefer applesauce cake without frosting, just a personal preference, so dusted with a bit of powdered sugar. Thanks for posting, made for PAC Fall 08
