Spiced Apples in Wine for the Crock Pot Alanita

Ingredients

    1. 6 tart cooking apples
    2. 1 cup red wine or 1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
    3. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    4. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    5. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    6. 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
    7. 2 slices fresh lemon

Directions

  1. Core, peel, and quarter apples.
  2. Combine wine, sugar in crock pot, stir well.
  3. Add apple quarters.
  4. Stir well to coat apples with wine mixture.
  5. Add nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and lemon slices.
  6. Cover and cook on high 2-3 hours.
  7. Transfer apples and liquid to a refrigerator container and chill well.
  8. Serve in sherbet glasses.
