We loved the tomato mixture with the horseradish. The beef was nice and tender but the onion turned out to be mushy. I think DH and I both thought the onion should have had a bite to it. It got lost in the dish. I served it over some noodles but think it would work great over rice too. Made for tag game at

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 12 lbs round steaks, cut in 6 pieces, pounded thin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 teaspoon marjoram
  • 6 small white onions
  • 14 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 (20 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish


  1. Season meat with salt and pepper.
  2. Sprinkle marjoram on top side of meat.
  3. Place an onion on each piece of meat.
  4. Roll up and tie with thread or fasten with toothpicks.
  5. Roll meat in flour.
  6. Heat oil in a heavy skillet.
  7. Add meat and brown on all sides.
  8. Pour off excess fat.
  9. Add tomatoes and horseradish.
  10. Cover and cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours, or until meat is tender.
