This technique is fun to get the kids involved. This gives the bacon a slightly different texture, crisp yet chewy. For a little added smokiness and heat do try this method with Oven Cooked Bacon With Black Pepper and Brown Sugar. Easy clean up!!!!!! ;)
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Lay bacon on pan covered with foil; sprinkle generously with black pepper and brown sugar; twist each strip and lay in rows on foil.
- Bake 10 minutes; drain fat from pan; bake 5 more minutes if needed or until bacon is as crisp as you like.
- Place on a paper towel to remove grease.
- Watch it disappear.
Wonderful presentation for bacon - looked like little twigs on the plate!! Flavour was really good, although I probably used about 6-8 tsp of brown sugar, & the twisting gave it a chewier, crispier texture. It was very easy to twist the bacon & it stayed that way on the pan.
I thought this was yummy! DH and DS didn't care for it, but they don't care for "sweet" meat flavorings. Too bad for them! I got to eat it all myself! And I love cooking bacon in the oven cuz I hate the mess it makes on the stove.
Fun, yummy "twist" to the already delicous breakfast side kick bacon! We already love your Recipe #107440 so I decided to see what "twisting" the bacon would do for the texture. I used a premium bacon ( not thick sliced however) and one end was thicker than the other and would not twist as well. Next time, I will try this with a store brand bacon that I know is thinner and see if it will twist better. I did sprinkle it with the black pepper, brown sugar and also added a little pinch of cayenne. Loved that little touch of heat with the sweetness of the sugar! I will be making this again when my BF's little nephew comes to visit... I am sure he will love helping make all of us breakfast!
